Behavioral Economics

Behavioral economics research focuses on the effects of psychological, cognitive, emotional, cultural, and social factors on the decisions of individuals and institutions and how those decisions vary from those implied by the classical economic theory. Behavioral economics applies economic and psychological principles to overcome barriers to behavioral change. With careful attention to decision making and predictable decision errors, behavioral economics offers insights and solutions to help individuals optimize their choices. More recently, behavioral economic research has helped advance public health and health care goals as well.
